Research StrategyBench to Bedside

The world of medical research is full of exciting discoveries. But few centers have the ability to move these ideas out of the lab -- and closer to reality.

The DRI is uniquely structured to conduct “bench to bedside” – or, “translational” --  research because it houses all three phases of research under one roof:

  • Basic (Experiments carried out at the laboratory "bench”)
  • Pre-clinical (Experiments carried out in animal models)
  • Clinical (Patient-based studies)

Scientists working within these three research levels share and build on each other’s results, ensuring that progress is made as safely and quickly as possible.
