The Dr. Denise R. and Thomas D. Stern Fast Track Center for Testing embodies the Diabetes Research Institute's (DRI) open-door approach to research, as well as its sense of urgency.
The state-of-the-art center provides the ideal environment for researchers to quickly test and evaluate promising new technologies and potential therapies.
To accelerate progress, investigators from other research centers and biomedical companies are invited to the DRI to test their findings, work side by side with Institute scientists, and train in the latest diabetes research techniques.
Many of the projects focus on improving current islet processing and transplantation methods, as well as developing and testing emerging technologies from a variety of new scientific disciplines.
The rapidly growing fields of tissue engineering, stem cell development and protein therapy are just a few of these new areas contributing to many of the recent advances in diabetes research.
