Della Matheson, RN, CDE, is theTrial Coordinator for the University of Miami Clinical Center for Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet.
As Trial Coordinator, Ms. Matheson provides expertise and oversight to all collaborating universities and private physicians involved in the TrialNet consortium..
Her activities extend to a five state region including Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico.
She also coordinates the active TrialNet studies available at the University of Miami.
Ms. Matheson received her nursing degree in 1973 from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She joined the Diabetes Research Institute in 1987 as a diabetes nurse educator. In 1993,she turned her career focus to research and served as trial coordinator for the Diabetes Prevention Trial – Type 1 (DPT-1)
In addition to the many articles published as part the DPT-1 Study Group, Ms. Matheson's articles have appeared in the journal, Focus on Diabetes .
She also co-authored an award winning article on diabetes and pregnancy that was published in The Diabetes Educator.
