The DRI is currently conducting three studies on new treatments for those with type 2 diabetes.
Study #1
Have you been diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?
Are you:
- 18 to 79 years of age
- Taking thiazolinedione (rosiglitazone or piglitazone), metformin, and a sulfonylurea daily?
- Willing to perform self monitoring blood glucose testing at home?
Would you:
- Use an electronic diary?
- Take daily insulin injections?
If you have said YES to ALL of these questions, you may be eligible for our clinical research study!
If enrolled, you will receive the following at no cost:
- Study insulin and oral study mediation
- Office visits and medical attention by trained medical staff to monitor your health and help you better control your diabetes
- Glucose meter and supplies
- Nutrition information and guidance

Study #2
Do you have type 2 diabetes?
The DRI is recruiting individuals ages 18 through 80 with Type 2 diabetes for participation in a
research study to test the safety and effectiveness of an investigational medication.
Patients must be taking at least 1500 mg. of Metformin (glucophage) daily to qualify.

Study #3
What kind of insulin?
Area doctors are participating in several clinical trials of an investigational inhaled insulin. If you are at least 18 years old, have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, do not smoke, and do not have chronic lung disease, call today to see if you qualify for a study Multiple visits over 6 to 18 months are required. If you are eligible to participate, you will either receive study drug or continue your current regimen with close supervision. You may be compensated for time and travel.

Study #4
Are you taking insulin to treat your diabetes?
If you have Type 2 Diabetes and are currently taking insulin, you may be eligible for a research study of an investigational oral medication.
To qualify for the study:
- You must be 21 years of age or older
- You take insulin for your type 2 diabetes
- You have been told your blood sugar is too high: HbA1c between 7.5% and 11.0%
If you qualify, you will receive study-related care and study medication at no charge.
