Jane Sparrow-Bodenmiller is the lead diabetes educator at the DRI’s Eleanor and Joseph Kosow Diabetes Treatment Center.
Ms. Bodenmiller developed and heads a state-of-the-art insulin pump program for patients with type 1 diabetes or insulin-deficient type 2 diabetes. She also assisted in the development and implementation of the education program, “Mastering Your Diabetes.”
Her expertise in physiologic insulin management, algorithm adjustments and technologies for diabetes monitoring and insulin delivery has enabled her to fully complement the physicians that refer patients for self-management education.
Ms. Bodenmiller has received several awards including “Nurse of the Year” from Coral Gables Hospital and “Educator of the Year,” from both the Greater Miami Association of Diabetes Educators and the Association of Patient and Community Health Educators.
Ms. Bodenmiller received her training in England before coming to the United States. She founded the Greater Miami Chapter of Diabetes Educators in 1989 and has served the Chapter as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
She sits on the National Pump Advisory Board for Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, and on the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Diabetes. She has presented at national seminars including the National Association of Diabetes Educators Symposium.
