Luigi Meneghini, M.D., M.B.A.

Luigi Meneghini, M.D., M.B.A., is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and the Director of the Eleanor and Joseph Kosow Diabetes Treatment Center at the Diabetes Research Institute.   

His primary interests lie in improving the metabolic control of patients with type 1 diabetes through patient and professional education. In 1994, he began working on the development of a computer-based electronic case manager in the hope of bringing more comprehensive, timely and efficient care to the daily lives of people with diabetes.   

Most recently he has pioneered an innovative educational approach to intensive insulin management (Mastering Your Diabetes) with the assistance of a state-of-the-art diabetes education center, and hopes to soon launch a Web-based version.   

Dr. Meneghini is a frequent lecturer, and has published several articles on diabetes and on-line computer systems for diabetes management in well-read medical journals.
