Harold G. Doran, Jr.

Harold G. Doran, Jr. is a veteran of the banking industry. His breadth of knowledge was culled from more than two decades in the field.  Though retired from the business, he continues to serve on several corporate and philanthropic boards and is a strong supporter of his local community.

Mr. Doran served as President and CEO of the Peoples Bank of Murray in Murray, Kentucky, from 1988 to 2000.  He started his career at the bank in 1977 and worked his way up to the position of President and CEO.  In addition to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, he currently serves on the board of directors for Kentucky Investors Co., Investors Heritage Life Insurance Co., Murray State University Foundation, and Murray Calloway Economic Development Corporation.

Additionally, he has held various leadership positions with several organizations, including Chairman of the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority and the Bank of Lyon County; President of the Murray State University Alumni Association and the Four-Rivers Scout Council, Boy Scouts of America; Vice Chairman of the Dees Bank of Hazel; Director of the Bank of Livingston County; Trustee of the National Scouting Museum, Boy Scouts of America; and member of the Leadership Kentucky Class 1988.
 
Mr. Doran received a Bachelor of Science in Business at Murray State University in 1975 and earned a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Pennsylvania in 1977.
 
Mr. Doran is married to Kelly Doran, a mathematics professor at Murray State University.  The couple has two children, Sarah, 16, and Will, 14, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1994 at the age of two.
