Baseball Great Don Baylor and Emmy® Award Winning Sports Journalist Roy Firestone joined approximately 200 golf enthusiasts at the Diabetes Research Institute Golf Classic, which was held on May 12 at the El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana. The fourth annual event featured an afternoon of golf followed by auctions and a dinner program that honored Charles Delle Donne, a seasoned veteran of the investment management business. The tournament raised $232,000 for the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute.
Serving as Celebrity Chair, Baylor spent the day playing on the course and was later joined by Firestone, who served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. Bidding wars ensued for a host of one-of-a-kind auction items, including sideline and locker room passes to the USC Trojans vs. Ohio State Buckeyes game, plus a Citation 2 jet golf getaway to Bandon Dunes, Oregon, a night at the Hollywood Bowl featuring Diana Ross and the L.A. Philharmonic, a walk-on part on CSI New York, Dodger tickets and more.
