ENCORE! A CURE!
March 25, 2007
More than 200 theatre enthusiasts gave rave reviews after flocking to the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables for a unique event called “Encore! A Cure!” on the evening of Sunday, March 25th. Guests enjoyed a special performance of La Cage Aux Folles, a long-running Paris boulevard comedy, a highly original classic film, and a major musical theatre hit recently revived. The Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami reaped the proceeds, which totaled more than $65,000, according to Carol Nudelman Blumberg, event chairperson.
After eating a light supper, catered by Sara Sharpe, and indulging on coffee and dessert, theatre-goers perused a silent auction and reveled in the beauty of the magnificently restored 1940’s movie palace, the Miracle Theatre, home of Actor’s Playhouse, a leading regional performing arts company and a splendid center of community culture activity. Laughter was rampant, as some audience members saw the Tony Award-winning musical for the first time, and some re-lived the experience.
