More than 250 fashion aficionados gathered at the Pine Hollow Country Club in East Norwich, NY, on Thursday, December 7 for the ninth annual Fall Into Fashion luncheon.  Clinton Kelly, the always fashionably correct host of TLC’s “What Not to Wear,” made a special appearance at the event, which raised approximately $160,000 for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), a recognized world leader in cure-focused research.

"The Diabetes Research Institute does amazing work,” Kelly said.  “I am honored to be here at Fall Into Fashion for such a worthy cause."

One event highlight was enjoyed only by the lucky grand prize sweepstake winner, Leslie Hantverk, who jumped in a Bentley with Kelly and embarked upon a whirlwind shopping experience.  While eagerly picking out clothes and accessories from Lonny’s and shoes from Steven Dann, both of Great Neck, Hantverk absorbed the esteemed advice and honest opinions of the fashion maven himself.

Featuring a sumptuous brunch, an exclusive shopping environment, and unique demonstrations – from cake decorating and coffee sampling to make-up application and massage, the event was co-chaired by Miriam Shiff and Addy Fritzhand.  Boutique vendors offered a chance to complete some holiday shopping with fabulous jewelers, a furrier and more.  A psychic predicted possibilities for the future, and a vintage photo booth delighted girlfriends.

Since many of the luncheon’s committee members and attendees have supported this event since its inception, Friends Celebrating Friends served as the theme of the day.  During the program, guests enjoyed a video journal, which included photos from years past to celebrate and show appreciation for good friends, old and new.

Roslyn Heights resident Fran Helfant, a generous friend of the DRI, served as the Honorary Chairman, and sponsors included:  Merrill Lynch/Jill Schildkraut-Katz, The Kleinberg Family, The Messina Family, The Morabito Family and The Waller Family.
