RIEDEL WINE-TASTING

March 13, 2008

On March 13th, a select group of guests was treated to a unique and thoroughly enjoyable wine-tasting experience at the beautifully appointed Riedel glass showroom on New York City’s Madison Avenue.  Tenth-generation glassmaker Georg Riedel conducted an interactive glass appreciation seminar, during which guests tasted wine in glasses designed for specific types of wine. They also sipped from ordinary plastic cups to better understand and appreciate fine glassware.  The lessons were well-received.

At the end of the evening, each guest received the set of four beautiful and unique glasses from which they were drinking, courtesy of Northeast Board Chairman Ricardo Salmon and his wife, Leslie Dezer, and Northeast Board member Samantha Shanken.

Attendees also were treated to a discussion on advances in diabetes research by Dr. Norma S. Kenyon of the Diabetes Research Institute.  Dr. Kenyon subsequently took questions from members of the group.

Our thanks go out to Georg Riedel and Alan Greenberg of Riedel Glass, and especially to Samantha Shanken, who arranged this wonderful evening.  We hope to hold another such event at the showroom in the near future.
