Join the "PEP Squad" -- Parents Empowering Parents

When your child is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, it affects your whole family.

Not only is managing diabetes a constant balancing act, but the emotions you have as a “diabetes parent” are often just as challenging.

And, new emotional issues arise with each stage of your child’s life. Entering a new grade level, transitioning from childhood to adolescence and beyond, sleepovers, summer camp, and even how to talk about compliance and testing.

You might wonder: "How, as a family, are we going to get through this?"

The PEP Squad -- Parents Empowering Parents -- was created as a diabetes support group for parents of children with diabetes.  Mentors, mostly parents who have experienced the challenges first hand, reach out to newly-diagnosed families, or to families living with the disease for a while, to lend an ear and important emotional support.

Parents help each other and share information. You can connect with others who are dealing with the same situation and, like you, are looking for support.
