Love and Hope Thank You Luncheon

The sounds of laughter and celebration filled Miami’s Westview Country Club as more than 50 members of the Love and Hope Committee gathered for their annual Thank You Luncheon on April 7. The efforts these lovely ladies made during the 36th season of Love and Hope with November’s Preview Party and February’s Love and Hope Ball, Honoring America, helped produce $1 million for the Diabetes Research Institute. Everyone in attendance received accolades for their hard work, but only one special person was presented with the Star Award, an annual honor for the woman who stands out among this extraordinarily dedicated committee.
“This year’s Star Award recipient has been with us from the beginning,” said Executive Chairman Sandra Levy. “Her leadership, creativity and commitment to the cause are what keep us all on our toes.”
International Chairman Linda Gibb then presented the Star Award to Life Chairman Emeritus Sonja Zuckerman, who was both astonished and delighted. In addition to her devotion to Love and Hope year-after-year, Mrs. Zuckerman also serves on the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation’s national board. She is a Distinguished Humanitarian of the organization, and in recognition of her support, the Institute’s sixth floor conference room bears the name of Mrs. Zuckerman and her late husband, Mr. Harry Zuckerman.
