Karla Edge, 51, didn't know if she would live or die. Diagnosed with type 1 at age 6, she was losing her battle with diabetes. She suffered such severe hypoglycemia that her husband and daughters often called 911 and gave her emergency glucagon shots. Karla prayed for a better life - and then she came to the Diabetes Research Institute for an islet transplant.
