Walk with Walgreens Family Fun Day and Health Fair

March 24, 2012
Reflecting the burgeoning partnership between Walgreens and the DRI Foundation, the second Walk with Walgreens Family Fun Day and Health Fair more than doubled the proceeds of its premier event! Held simultaneously in four South Florida locations*, the family affair featured activities, exercise, refreshments and entertainment for all ages. In FTL guests were privy to an acoustic performance by singer/songwriter Crystal Bowersox, thanks to LifeScan, Inc. makers of the OneTouch® Brand of blood glucose monitoring systems for people with diabetes, including Bowersox herself who was diagnosed with type 1 two decades ago. In PSL, Ron Darling, former Mets pitcher and DRI Foundation board member, spoke about his hope for a cure for his son, Jordan, who also has type 1 diabetes. Walgreens and the DRI are grateful to everyone in attendance, including this year’s generous sponsors, especially presenting sponsors LifeScan and Neutrogena SunCare
