Why he's involved
When his eldest son, Jordan, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 11, Ron did everything he could to educate himself with the latest research for a diabetes cure. He came across the Diabetes Research Institute and has been helping in any way possible ever since.
How he helps
Through his foundation, Ron has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for the DRI. The Ron Darling Foundation hosts events throughout the year and partners with other businesses, such as McFadden's Restaruant and Saloon at Citi Field, to raise funds and awareness. Ron also appears in radio and television public service announcements for the DRI.
Why the DRI?
"I wanted to align myself with an organziation where I thought people were doing great work -- not good work -- but great work, and I was looking for a place that was focused on a cure."
