Bonnie Inserra

Bonnie Inserra is the Executive Director and Benefactor of the Inserra Family Foundation. She serves on the boards of the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation and Tomorrow’s Children, as well as on the Advisory Board of Columbia Presbyterian Babies Hospital for Hope and Heroes. She also serves on the board for The Colleen Giblin Foundation, an organization from which Bonnie received the personal honor of becoming the first recipient of the Woman of the Millennium Award, in addition to receiving the Humanitarian of the Year Award for the Inserra family.

A staunch advocate for medical research, Bonnie is especially knowledgeable of diabetes and cancer. Bonnie’s son, Lawrence, is a 20-year cancer survivor. Her commitment to the DRI began after her daughter, Lindsey, was diagnosed with a difficult-to-manage form of type 1 diabetes twelve years ago at age 11. Due to Bonnie’s tireless pursuit of revolutionary medical treatment to save her daughter’s life, Lindsey has directly benefited from groundbreaking research and development, which allowed her to be the first child in the world to use the Mini Med Intra-Peritoneal Implanted Pump.

Bonnie serves as a co-chair for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation's (DRIF) annual D.R.E.a.M.S. in the City fundraiser held in New York City. This event has raised more than $2 million to date for the cure-focused work of the DRI.

A resident of Mahwah, NJ, Bonnie has been recognized by her community as “The Silent Angel.” Her many unheralded acts of kindness are inspirational to those around her. Bonnie has committed her life to making a difference in the lives of children, not only for Lindsey and Lawrence, but also for countless others.
