Sail For The Cure Regatta

July 10, 2009

A truly unique and first time event took place at the Narrasketuck Yacht Club and the Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club in Amityville on July 10, 2009.  A group of young sailors from Long Island launched a successful fundraising regatta to help the DRI.  Andrew Baransky, 16, a student at St. Anthony's High School, Huntington chaired the event, and brought together more than 50 sailors racing in the Great South Bay.  Andrew and the committee raised more than $7,000 through sponsorships and donations.  The race was followed with lots of food and fun at an after party BBQ with a live band.

The regatta was supported by the Narrasketuck and Unqua Yacht Clubs and was run concurrently with the GSBYRA Jr. Invitational Regatta.
