The Pancreas Regeneration Debate Settled: An Original Theory Renewed
December 4, 2018 -- A contentious debate among diabetes researchers has surrounded the regeneration of pancreatic insulin-producing cells: not if these cells regenerate, but rather how. DRI scientists draw categorical conclusions in support of the original theory that progenitors in the pancreas do exist and, moreover, that these stem cells may regenerate in human patients.

November 28, 2018 -- On Wednesday, December 12, the New York City Skyline will have five buildings light up for one night to support one cause! In this historic event, the iconic, world-renowned Empire State Building; One Bryant Park and the building at 151 West 42nd Street; The Pyramid at 65 East 55th; and The Bloomberg Tower at 731 Lexington Avenue will illuminate in sparkling blue.

October 17, 2018 – Families who are #PumpedToJump to help find a cure for diabetes should join Bounce Away Diabetes (B.A.D.) at various participating Sky Zone parks across the U.S. on Sunday, November 4, from 10 a.m. – noon. For every minute a participant bounces, Sky Zone will donate 50 cents to the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) in support of its mission to find a biological cure for diabetes.

July 11, 2018 -- DRI scientists today announced the launch of the POSEIDON study, a new clinical trial that will assess the impact of high-dose omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D supplementation on blocking the progression of type 1 diabetes (T1D).
