Cocktails for a CURE

The Besner Family hosted their first Cocktails for a CURE fundraiser in New York City at the Hudson Terrace nightclub on the evening of September 15.  The event was such a success that they hope to continue it annually.

And it's all because of Willa!

Diagnosed shortly after her 4th birthday, Willa lives with type 1 diabetes.  Beautiful and brave, this 10-year-old girl isn't just waiting for a cure...she's aiming for it.

She sold bracelets to friends and family, and personally made a donation of $43 in cash.  Way to go, Willa!

Willa's parents Leslie Hsu and Greg Besner, and even little sister Lana, 8, are all doing their part.  The family organized Cocktails for a CURE, which featured wine and spirits, fabulous food, music and dancing.  They were honored that more than 200 friends and family joined them in their fight for a cure.

Willa and Leslie visited the DRI a few weeks later to deliver a donation from the Willa's Wish Foundation for $30,000.  According to Greg, next year will be "an even bigger event and an even bigger donation!"
