Exotic Cars Help Fuel Support for a Diabetes Cure

Diabetes Research Institute benefits
from annual car show in Glen Cove

Thousands ogled and awed at the most sleek, luxurious cars the Northeast has to offer during the 9th annual Gold Coast
Concours/Bimmerstock on June 4 in the downtown business district of Glen Cove. This annual event helps to raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) and its mission to find a biological cure for diabetes.

Crowds walked up and down the streets to admire hundreds of exotics, like two $4.5 million LaFerraris, two
McLarens P1s, the ultra-rare Maserati MC12, a Porche 918 Spyder, along with customized Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porches, Rolls Royces, BMWs and other rare vehicles, during the exotic car show, produced by Martino Auto Concepts/MAC Auto Couture.  This spectacular car show has raised more than $534,000 for diabetes research at the DRI.

“We had a great array of supercars this year from all over the Northeast that the crowd loved and took photos with,” said Joe LaPadula of Martino Auto Concepts, who co-chairs the event with Jon Holzer. “This event not only allows people to get an up-close look at the best in exotics but also helps raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute and its work toward a cure for diabetes, which is extremely important to millions.”

The annual car show also featured the great music of The Lazy Dogs and The Matt Grabowski Band and a variety of food, plus Joe Manfredi from the Old Westbury Web Radio served as the event’s emcee.

Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, a long-time DRI Foundation board and event committee member, was happy with this year’s success.

“I am so thankful to everyone who helped make this event another success,” said DeRiggi-Whitton. “The positive energy can be felt by all who attended. Beautiful cars, music, food and all to help raise funds for such an important cause. Joe LaPadula and Jon Holzer are masters at organizing this day and the City of Glen Cove is the perfect venue.”

Glen Cove Mayor Reginald Spinello served as Honorary Co-chair. Committee members included Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, Fara Finkelstein, Anthony Jimenez, Toni Kessel, Richard Valicenti and Bruce Waller. Special thanks was extended to event sponsors: Platinum Sponsors Roberta and Bruce Waller & Family; and the Peter and Jeri Dejana Family Foundation; Gold Sponsors Ai Media Group; Competition BMW; Rallye BMW; Silver Sponsors Beyond Marketing, BMW of Freeport, The Experience Auto Group, Long Island Sports Cars and PPG/Single Source; and Media Sponsors Long, News 12 Long Island, 1010 WINS and Connoisseur Media Long Island.
