Allison K. Wick is currently Director of Education and Program Development at the DRI’s Eleanor and Joseph Kosow Diabetes Treatment Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
She is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Diabetes Educator. Ms. Wick received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Miami and her Masters of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Program from Barry University in Miami.
Ms. Wick has presented and written on several diabetes education topics including “mastering your diabetes,” culturally-neutral intensive diabetes management programs, and group-based self-management intervention for intensification of insulin therapy.
She has considerable experience as a sub-investigator for clinical trials of drug therapy for patients with Type 2 diabetes.
She's also a member of the editorial board for the American Journal of Diabetes as well as a member of the Greater Miami Association of Diabetes Educators and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Her honors and awards include “Most Outstanding Diabetes Educator of the Year” and “Most Outstanding Diabetes Education Program of the Year.”
