Donaldson Golf 2017

Seventh Annual Donaldson Organization Golf Outing

Monday, September 25 2017

The Seventh Annual Donaldson Organization Golf Outing to benefit the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) took place on Monday, September 25, 2017, at the renowned Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, New York.  It was a beautiful day in every way. Blue skies and summer-like temperature made for a great day of play for close to 300 golfers. Event hosts and Innovative Research Sponsors Bob Donaldson, Doug Donaldson, and The Donaldson Organization, welcomed old friends and new to this prestigious and always-popular event that raised close to $700,000 this time around for the cure-focused work of the DRI.

At the end of the day, guests enjoyed a bountiful and delicious dinner.  Bob Donaldson began the evening’s festivities by welcoming and thanking the many supporters and friends of The Donaldson Organization.  Bob reminded everyone of the serious purpose of this event, which is to raise funds toward a cure for diabetes.  He looks forward to the day when his grandson Matthew, who has type 1 diabetes, and the millions of others with diabetes will be free of it.  Bob’s son and Matthew’s dad, Doug Donaldson, stepped up to pay homage to his wife Sheri, whose devoted care of Matthew served as a touching reminder that diabetes is a disease shared by the entire family.

DRI Foundation President and CEO, Joshua Rednik, spoke briefly about the work of the DRI and added his warmest thanks for everyone’s support.  The event's honorees, Christopher Cestone, Senior Vice President, Skanska USA and Marcelo Renzo, First Vice President, Design and Construction, RXR Construction & Development LLC, were recognized for their leadership and generosity.  Afterwards, a roster of wonderful sponsors came up to accept plaques in gratitude for their support.

The DRI Foundation warmly thanks The Donaldson Family, the wonderful honorees and all of the event sponsors, the staff of Winged Foot Golf Club, and a cadre of hardworking, dedicated volunteers for making the Golf Outing such a success.
