Luca Inverardi, M.D.

"As a translational research center, we are continuously moving the most promising findings from the bench to experimental and preclinical models and, ultimately, to clinical application."

Luca Inverardi, M.D., is Research Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In addition, he serves as Deputy Director of Translational Research at the Diabetes Research Institute.

Much of Dr. Inverardi’s research interests lie in developing ways to make biological replacement of insulin-producing tissue reproducibly successful in a large cohort of patients.

This area of investigation focuses on a broad range of basic research experiments in the areas of transplant immunology, tolerance induction and cytoprotection, as well as diabetes stem cell research and immunogenetic studies to prevent diabetes.

His division is comprised of multidisciplinary scientists working in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, pancreatic stem cell development, pathology and immunogenetics.

Dr. Inverardi has also been an active participant in several academic partnerships.
