The Marvel of Stem Cells

$250,000 #MSC Match Challenge

#MSC Match ChallengeMATCH MET!!

Thanks to so many generous donors, we raised the $250,000 we needed to earn the matching gift—bringing our total to $500,000.

We are so grateful to the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation for providing the match and for everyone who donated to help us reach this goal.

These contributions will give our scientists the funding they need to continue investigating the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their ability to address the challenges of the immune system.

DRI scientists Drs. Diego Correa and Norma Kenyon, among others, are investigating MSCs, which in early studies have shown some benefits for islet transplantation, like helping to protect the insulin-producing cells, decreasing inflammation, and promoting the growth of new blood vessels.

Watch a video about about what MSCs are, how DRI scientists are using these dynamic cells, and why they are excited about the findings so far.

You can also read more about this important work in an interview with Dr. Correa.

Keep up with our progress toward a cure & more
