Matching Gifts

Many companies match charitable contributions made by their employees. A matching gift program is a great way for you to maximize your gift to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.

How does the matching gift process work?

It can vary from company to company, but the following example is typical:

  1. An employee gets a matching gift form from the employer, usually from the human resources department.
  2. After completing the form, the employee sends it along with the donation to the non-profit organization.
  3. The non-profit certifies on the form that it has received the gift and meets the company's guidelines for receiving a matching gift.
  4. The non-profit returns the form to the company.
  5. The company verifies eligibility of the employee and the non-profit recipient and sends the check to the non-profit.

To find out if your company has a matching gift program, check with your Human Resources or Personnel department.
