Please let us know if there’s a particular topic you’d like to see in future issues.

'Tis the Season

School’s out.  Your folks are in town.  You have three scheduled holiday parties and a basket of goodies that was just delivered.  The festivities of the season can often cause added stress.

Find out what our experts have to say about it.  DRI’s Kellie Rodriguez MSN, CDE, CPT, provides tips from the clinical perspective, and PEP Squad’s Ilene Vinikoor, DCSW, LMFT, offers up ideas from the psychological viewpoint.

'Twas the Night After Thanksgiving

Most children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of a cure danced in their heads.  But little Sammy Schechter was up on a stage, raising more money than some twice his age!

PEP Squad sends a special thank you to Sammy for raising $900 at his birthday night performance and fundraiser.  If you’re in South Florida, you can still see Sammy starring as Oliver at Actors’ Playhouse throughout December.

Diabetes Divorce

Recent headlines have read, “Diabetes Civil War” and “Type 1s seek split from type 2s.”  Anyone connected to diabetes has had the discussion at one time or another: the difference between type 1 and type 2.

We threw the topic out to our Facebook group.  Read what members had to say and see news coverage on the topic.

Does it need a new name?

See you at CWD!

The weather outside might have you longing for hot summer days.  Warm up, if only in your mind, by making reservations to join us at the Children With Diabetes Friends for Life Conference, July 5 – 10, 2011 in Orlando, FL.

If you have never been, it’s a MUST for all kids with diabetes and their families.  What are you waiting for?  The DRI has been participating since the conference began 12 years ago.
