New Grant Funds Cord Blood-Derived Stem Cell Research to Address Islet Supply
One of the most critical challenges in finding a cure for diabetes is to develop new sources of insulin-producing cells.

Among other cell types, cord blood-derived stem cells are showing great promise, and a new $200,000 grant from the Fred and Mabel R. Parks Foundation will fuel the pace at which research progress in this area is made.

Cord blood stem cells are multipotent and active, which means they may transform toward most tissues of the body.
