Why I Support the DRI

“I do not want my children or my grandchildren to have
to suffer with this disease.”

Why they're involved
Philanthropy is a family tradition. Susan's parents designated the DRI as a benificiary of a charitable trust. Susan has type 1 diabetes, as did her late father.

How they help
Susan and her husband created a Charitable Gift Annuity for the benefit of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI), and have been inducted into the DRI Foundation’s Heritage Society.

Why the DRI?
"My dad had type 1 diabetes, and I have it, too," Susan says. "I do not want my children or my grandchildren to have to suffer with this disease.

"We've followed in the footsteps of my parents in making a planned gift to the Diabetes Research Institute to ensure that a cure is found. Plus, we receive annual income as well as tax benefits as a result of our gift."
